Something Is Changing in Bolivia

God is changing the way His people think and serve across Bolivia. Believers who once hesitated to share their faith are now stepping forward to share the Good News of Jesus. As pastors faithfully teach God’s Word, lives are being transformed and churches are being strengthened from the inside out.

Although Christianity has deep roots in Bolivia, many communities still lack healthy, disciple-making churches. As you read these stories of God at work, please join us in praying that He will continue changing hearts, raising leaders and mobilising His Church.

God’s Word Changes Hearts

For many years, Pastor Filomeno Ali found it difficult to encourage church members to participate in evangelism. Many felt they were too busy or did not see the urgency of sharing the Gospel.

Then, as they studied God’s Word together through Harvesters’ training, God began to change their hearts.

The difference was unmistakable. The people who once needed convincing were now the ones urging Pastor Filomeno, “Let’s go! We have lost so much time.”

Instead of making excuses, they began looking for places without a church. As they stepped out in faith, communities welcomed them, saying “Come, plant a church here; over there too; here as well. We want to hear, we want to listen, we want to know the Word of the Lord.”

God’s living and active Word had done what years of encouragement could not. It sent believers out.

Pray for Restored Foundations

While walking through Riberalta City in the Beni region, Pastor Raul Alcázar sensed the Lord impressing something deeply on his heart.

As he stood before a crumbling house, Pastor Raul sensed God using the broken walls as a picture of something far deeper: the spiritual condition of many churches in the region.

“The foundations of the church in Beni are broken,” he says. “We have to work it out… You have to help us praying so the work of the restoration… can be done by the Spirit of the Lord.”

His appeal is a reminder that lasting transformation is God’s work. As local pastors faithfully serve, let’s stand with them in prayer, trusting the Holy Spirit to restore, strengthen and establish His Church from the foundations upward.

Building People Before Building Projects

Pastor Eliel Languidey has also experienced a significant change in ministry. For seven years, he measured progress much as many church planters do – by finding land, constructing buildings and putting infrastructure in place. Yet although three church buildings stood, there were no pastors to shepherd the people.

After being introduced to Harvesters’ church-planting approach, his focus shifted from prioritising buildings to prioritising people – making disciples and raising leaders.

The change soon became evident.

In just two years, two more churches have been planted. Instead of waiting for buildings, leaders were being raised up. Instead of struggling to find pastors, disciples were becoming disciple-makers.

Pastor Eliel says, “This has been a more practical, more positive, and faster way to expand the Kingdom.”

Something is changing in Bolivia. Believers are taking the Good News out to the lost, and pastors are investing first in people, knowing that healthy churches grow where disciples are made. As God continues this work, let’s stand alongside our brothers and sisters in Bolivia through prayer.

Please Pray

  • Thank God that believers who once said, “I don’t have time,” are now saying, “Let’s go!”
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to strengthen and restore churches, especially in the Beni region.
  • Ask God to continue raising up pastors, leaders and disciple-makers to shepherd new congregations.
  • Pray for wisdom and perseverance for pastors like Filomeno, Raul and Eliel as they equip others for ministry.
  • Pray that every new church planted will become a thriving community that reaches many more people with the hope of Jesus.
